Request

(17 December 2025)

I am writing to request information under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

The purpose of this request is to gather data on mould and damp in residential properties.

For administrative purposes, I kindly ask that all replies contain the following reference in the subject line: [CU:869bgxxjz], along with the reference number you assign to this request.

Required information

Specifically, I am seeking data on the following from January 2020 to December 2025 (or the most recent date for which data is held), broken down by month and year:

1. Reports: The total number of complaints and/or reports received regarding mould and/or damp in residential properties, broken down by month and year

2. Expenditure: The total cost incurred by the council in relation to works, treatment, remediation, inspection, or mitigation of mould and/or damp in residential properties, broken down by month and year, in GBP (£)

3. Resolution Times: Where recorded in existing systems, the average number of calendar days between the date a mould and/or damp report was first logged and the date the case was closed or marked as resolved, broken down by month and year — or, if averages are not already held, the date each report or case was first logged and the date it was closed or marked as resolved, aggregated by month and year.

Response

Please see attached spreadsheet as requested. Please note the following.

Due to a change in systems the Council can only confirm the total number of mould and damp complaints going back to November 2024. We are unable to confirm the number of jobs month by month. However, we can confirm the total number of reports received by the council of damp, mould and condensation issues in council-owned homes since May 2024 to 30 November 2024 is 928.

Due to a change in systems the Council can only confirm the total mould and damp treatment costs for all jobs going back to April 2022.

Due to a change in systems the Council are unable to provide the average days from logged to closed for these jobs.
