Please also provide a broad description of the different groups of people accommodated in hotels and the reasons for using hotels – Local authorities have to provide monthly returns to the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government, all information can be found via the fol-lowing link: https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/live-tables-on-homelessness. Hotels/B&Bs are utilised at South Derbyshire Council as an emergency/interim measure given the nature of statutory duties that need to be carried out by Local Authorities. Temporary Accommodation such as self-contained units are not always readily available given the high demand & short supply.
